Yes, it's bad. JPEG is a lossy format that can display a large image with a small weight but it creates those ugly chromatic artifacts around lines. You can see them if you zoom a little.

Jpeg reduces disk space by removing color data. Once saved the data is gone. That's why it is called "lossy compression".

The only one to ask is slugbox. He would have the uncompressed originals. Maybe he will help.
