Hmm… It seems that her Japanese name is actually Shō (Shou?), from the Pokémon wiki. Since we prefer the original Japanese names, her tag should be changed, I think.

It's weird that they completely changed characters' names for other regions' markets.

If they want their games to be played by children or teens, they must have thought that it would be easier to refer to the characters by more local names (Mei, for example, is called Rosa in English and Écho in French versions; Tōko is Hilda in EN, Blanche in FR; Satoshi is Ash in EN and Sacha in FR…).

I don’t know how it was in other countries, but in France, when animes began to air on TV (in the 1970’s), almost every character had a more European name instead of their original Japanese name (Captain Harlock is [Albator[/i] for us; Grendizer and Mazinger are Goldorak and Kōji Kabuto is Arcturus; City Hunter and Ryō Saeba are both Nicky Larson (series and character’s names), etc.) until mid-2000’s. Then, animes for teens and young adults began to keep the original names, even in the French dubbed version.
