You can tinkle the ivories using your knuckles.

The random geometric in the top right? Hatsune autograph cut off? The missing piano wires?
No one on Kona has spotted anything in the 4 days its been on the site (still getting comments).

Or that its larger than the one on Kona yet has less content.

On a more serious note (ahem), the shadow across her face seems inconsistent with the lighting across her body.

Even there are some oddities due to the artist's drawing skill, but if the image has a fault not due to the artist drawing skill, it's just a fault. *noted*

for those interested; I can break down the flaws more comprehensively.

1. Facial style is not adapted to realistic painting.
2. the 01 tattoo is off center - facing forward too much.
3. Piano arm shadow is cast too low for the sake of it.
4. Hair does not conform to the structure of the piano. It's in a fluid wave.
5. Key number and orientation is messed up obviously. I'm not an expert on pianos.
6. Right ankle joint is too heavily accentuated.
7. Strings are not highlighted. simply forgot this one.
8. Reflections are diffused. - simply too time consuming to repaint at high precision.
9. Legs are somewhat large given the maturity of the body.
10. Lowest point of the panties is not shaded.

Clarifications: 'Hatsune' is written in chalk on the blackboard. It was cropped off to keep the 16:10 aspect ratio.
Critique is welcomed, as I wish to improve. Though it might be another 10 years before things are "true to life".
I don't apologize for not meeting that standard.

idk why but all and all i really love the picture and i love the fact that the piano has no strings i think that makes it look alot better (and stop and think about it who would want to lay on the piano strings??? ouch)

seriously is it really that big of a deal whether or not the 'piano keys' have strings. this has become one of my most favorite pics that i've seen. keep up the work don't let people discourage you, mate.

It's nice, but the facts about the picture make it quirky, and yaaaah no strings where there should be, making her kind of float, and don't forget that she's kinda 3d CG lol so her body's sort of glowing too much xD

the light come from of the window and the shadow come from of the screen, it's why the picture look strange. (sry for my eng, i'm not eng and i've use a bad translator --')

It may be flawed, but it's one of my favorite pictures.
The only thing that has ever bothered me is her left leg.
I don't care to much about things like the piano not having strings, since hey, there are orange and green bubbles floating around. How is that realistic?
And even if they are inconsistent, the shadows still look awesome.

Ha ha, well controversy has been present in some of the best artworks in history (not that this one is, but it got very famous).
I gues that even though it has many errors, everyone has seen the beauty beyond them.

Ok, way too many comments, I was gonna read them all but after 10 minutes I realized I was only 1/4 down the page, so I'll just say it.

I've seen this sort of inconsistency in drawings before, this is what I believe is going on here. Basically, the artist fully drew and shaded the character first, then created the environment to match it. that obviously leaves a lot of room for error, and little subconscious things that, depending on your teacher "assuming he's had one" can easily go un-noticed. He probably felt a need to better envelope the character in the environment, thus casting a shadow on her from an object in front. He probably also had a little subconscious urge to show the source of the light being cast on the character.

Lol, as for the strings, he might have either just skipped them because drawing roughly 230 strings with the little coils on them, and shading each and every one of them would be suicide, or his reference didn't have any, and mistook the soundboard for some sort of string cover.

3rd possibility, he was high.

The main thing that brought me to this conclusion was where the feet supposedly touch down on the keys. And once I saw that, I noticed a lot of the other awkward "contact points" amongst the image. Now upon closer inspection, it almost looks like he painted the environment separately too, then put the character in after both were finished or something. Maybe one of the two weren't painted by the same artist..?

and finally: if this is supposed to be a full sized piano, that'd make her enormous! (and that disembodied [er.. disem-suface-d] reflection on the folded in music stand just screams "I don't care..!")

It seems to me that the character's upper body is floating. To be more specific, the character and the background don't seem to share a common eye level.

i hate to admit it, this good image is destroyed because of these oddities inside it
