It's free...and the chat is real time. The last time I was there, most of the moderators were there, some you don't see here.
It also was one way to get fast responses in fixing bugs on this site.

That was a long time though since I've been back there.

mIRC was and probably still is one of the most popular irc client despite being a payware.
I've known people use hydra, xchat / hexchat, chatzilla and so on.
Andchat or Colloquy on Android / iOS.
Personally I use KVIrc.

As for the channel names, all channel names come with the # sign infront. No it doesn't mean hash tag...

So to enter a non passworded channel it'd be /join #randomchannelhere

As for the irc server / channel, the link given by AZD. The first part up to the .net is the irc server, the latter half is the channel name.

One thing to remember is you're dealing with people all around the world and whose primary language might not be english (heck, your's might not be either). So jokes and sarcasm can easily be misinterpreted. :)

I figured you were joking when you said that, but even I wasn't too sure.

True enough.

Forum I mod is also international but we only use English as the primary language so I understand what you mean.

English is technically my 2nd, despite using it more often and Mandarin being my 1st, in which I can barely read but speak relatively fine.

Not sure where you guys live, but some stores have prepaid Visa cards which you can use to connect to a paypal account or what not. Usually somewhere around the gift card areas.

Not the best solution but it is one.

Best to just obtain your own bank account already....
