My current sources are miscellaneous, some hongfire, some torrents, some hshare, etc. Are there any good places out there for direct downloading of full CG packs with a diverse and plentiful selection? I don't technically require 1600x1200 like on Konachan, but I'd like to batch download the CGs, and not click and save every one of them manually.

Use share and perfect dark.

Search for a torrent called 'CG Megaset'. I made this torrent a year or two ago from a bunch of HCG sets I had downloaded (20gb worth), although the quality is hit or miss (rips had fewer png or high res images at that time). Last I checked, it's still being actively seeded.

Other than that, I've found rapidsearch to be good for finding the sets if you know the name.

syaoran-kun, can you briefly explain to me the theory of the program and how it works? I don't really understand any of it.

The download doesn't move in a continuous stream, it sometimes stop for the long time and then starts again. Is this normal?

Share is too intimidating. I even asked a friend (that uses Share a lot) to get stuff from there for me.

The biggest issue I can see from perfectdark is the bandwidth. Personally, I'm using Roger's EXTREME package (if anyone is in Canada around here) with a max bandwidth usage of 95 GB a month. PD's unity cache cannot be limited below 40GB. That would mean, if I have this open, its going to suck 40/95 a month alone, even with limiting the connection...

Oh well, I'm not really someone who downloads that kind of stuff (and I'd rather wait for raws in torrents). Only CG packs I wanted to get were:

-All of Peko's stuff (specially Nami no Manimani, which I got after searching somewhere else :3 ).
-Pia Carrot 3. I wonder if there are MORE CGs of this, since I hear Pia 3 had a sequel/expansion with more stuff (does anyone know, BTW?).

Yeah, I heard of the Pia Carrot Expansion. Best bet of finding it might be on Hshare.net. I recall getting a notification of a pia carrot addition.

Did you remember to add some nodes where it says "add ip address/port"?

Also is your PD port open on your router? Does it say "perfect dark is online" in light purple?

Other times PD is just stubborn like that, which is why I manually add the whole 40GB to the Unity at the beginning. If your Unity is full it should download less irrelevant things, and it will free up Unity space for your downloads automatically.

Compared to Share, certain things may take quite awhile to start, and other things just won't show up period. PD has been getting faster over time, but at its best, it is still half as fast as Share. PD does have less fakes though, and the rating system makes any fakes much easier to identify.

I've also made sure it is PD is online by opening a port. my unity size is 3.4GB/40GB, presumablly big enough to having automatic downloading? Yet, I started two downloads a few hours ago, their status is always ( ;-;) zZz. I've uploaded a few files which are under the UPLOAD tab. They aren't moving either.

Is something wrong?

As a test, do a search in PD for: 同人誌 c75

All the Comiket 75 (aka C75) doujin should download very quickly right now. If they don't, you may have a problem.

Uploading to PD can take days even for an single 50MB file, so just keep it runnning and it will be removed when done.

Also the 2GB cache does not factor in your own shares.

So then what does it mean that auto download has priority over manual over 2 GB cache?

So right now, what I'm thinking is that you have to share at least 2 GB to download, if you don't share, you can't download. Is this how it works? I don't think I fully understand this unity thing...

PD unlike Share cares about upload bandwidth..i was running it on my home connection too without result (shit stay "sleep" forever and downloads never start).
A friend told me to run it on an higher bandwith line..so now i'm running it on a 100/100 mbit server. Download start fast and it doesn't take much even for 2-3 gb files. tl;dr
Don't run PD if your upload is less than 100 kb/s.

2gb cache is enough to make sure that your added downloads take priority over automatic ones. This doesn't mean that the auto ones are stopped at 2gb unity. They will resume once you leave PD idle with nothing to download.

I'm pretty sure the 2GB Unity requirement does take your own shares into account, since it adds them directly to your Unity. If it didn't, why would the notice about 2GB stop popping up after you add 2GB of stuff? The whole point is to have 2GB of things to to contribute (upload) to the PD network.

I am also under the belief that until you fill your Unity to 40GB, it will download random things constantly, at the possible expense of your specified downloads (if you have only limited download speed from Japan). Once I manually added 40GB of stuff and my Unity, 95%+ of everything downloaded since were things I specified.

I have a 20Mbps/20Mbps connection with excellent routing to and from Japan and my experience is similar to what syaoran described on his 100Mbps server.

when referring to your bandwidth setting, you mean the ASDL or CATV options in the connection setting box? My internet package is fairly fast at 10MB, is then a CATV 8MB/s connection settting fast enough?

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if this is true or not. I probably confused it with how PD will limit your download speed if you set a upload bandwidth limit.
