So we've got some old tags hanging around, and I'm not sure what to do with some of them.
magazine scan - 309 uses. I'd say at least half of the posts on the site are from magazines, and this tag isn't very useful.

spread - 111 uses. I know what a magazine spread is, but it seems to be applied to a bunch of other posts that are just in landscape format.

pinup - 404 uses. I'm taking this to be posters that you're meant to hang up on your wall. No one seems to use this anymore.

stick poster on the other hand is still used often, and I guess it's helpful to find images with that ratio.

I think stick poster is the only one anyone uses anymore. Other three aren't that useful and probably should be removed.

Magazine scans tags aren't used anymore. They may be useful but overall I doubt anyone would even search for it.

We have no 2000, but it starts at 2001-2009

We have a few for January thru December.

I don't think the months and years are much of a necessary anymore.

Personally, I'm for removing year and month tags as well. What do you guys think?

Yea, I used them sometimes because I though they were necessary but they're just a bother.

I've been removing months and years as I have been making pools for calendars. The only use I can see for month and year tags is for stand alone calendar pages, but even then I don't think it's really needed.

I've been removing a couple of these, but I want to get a feel for what the more "official" stance on these tags is before doing anything else.

Though in the sake of keeping the site clean, remove them all since three of them are accessories and one is a state of mind.

Why do we have these fun tags at all? Is it because of your (i.e everyone's*) secret fetish, or because people prefer to search images they like by accessories/emotions/whatever?

I usually search for "accessories" say headphones, but that's about it.

Personally i've always thought of only tagging the major tags.

These are the only one we should actually keep to, but I think we have become lax over the years. But Aurelia is cleaning out the useless ones. She'll probably keep doing so till moe is squeaky clean ^^

I'm sure the tags your talking about is the unattended tags that are were initially tagged when the site were still beginning to gain users and our tagging scheme wasn't as strict and as time went on the tags kept getting used more and became an usual. But that'll change as we clean out those tags.

I'm the wrong person to ask about tagging, but I like aoies idea.

I think certain tags like 'cum' are useful because people can exclude tags like that from their searches if they want to, but still be able to search explicit images. I'd be for the tags Aoie has listed (ie, the major stuff) but also for keeping certain very descriptive tags that are useful for inclusion/exclusion seaches, mostly stuff that some people wouldn't like, such as cum, tentacles, maybe pee for the few images like that here, and so on.
Other tags like ribbons or whatever I generally consider to be superfluous though, if you want to search for specific stuff like that then danbooru is your best bet.

I would rather keep cape since there is a decent number of images of girls just wearing a cape. Combining shower with bath to make bathing makes sense. I don't really care one way or the other about gloves.

Unless we get someone with a glove fetish (... ok, it's possible, we already have at least a couple of foot fetishists here lol) I don't really see a need for it. Fairytale I'd generally put under a generic fantasy tag myself, for anything involving stuff like elves or whatever. I wouldn't miss it if it was just removed though.

What about the original tag? It's for original characters (I believe) and doesn't really get a lot of use. Most of the art drawn by the popular artists feature original characters anyway.

I deleted ribbons already, and we have the naked_ribbon tag to cover naked girls wrapped in ribbons.

I never could figure out what Original meant. The closest relation was probably original as original creation of the artist. Go figure ^^

naked_ribbon seems off to me, if I wanted ribbons I'd just search for those without defining an extra keyword. Well, not like it really affects me, I rarely use tag searches here, a quick browse of the index once or twice a day is quite sufficient to keep me up to date.

How about valentine and xmas? Sure they are nice for when those events happen, but other than that their mostly useless imo.
