Hay people, I wanna learn how to vector
Does anyone here know a nice place or tutorial where I could learn step by step?

If there's a tutorial for GIMP, it'd be better :3
Oh noes >.< Kyoushiro is made at me :(

*jump on photoshop*
I am, but generally I let my rage flow naturally... which means, catastrophe and destruction appears 3:

Not this time. I just want to create vector art of Saint Seiya :3

So, no one? ;_;u
I don't use vectors, but I know the fastest way to make vector images.
Use SAI + pentablet =D
Every strokes drawn by hands on linework layers are transfered into vectors automatically. no need to know complicated skills ;)
Almost vecter editers on moeren are using SAI instead of photoshop.
For easy vector, i use "vector magic" (very easy and fast).
But Inkscape is the best \o/

Just say no.
inkscape or illustrator
i prefer doing stuff with illus, and exporting it via inkscape
Hay, guys:

Hay people, I wanna _learn_ how to vector
:3

Take in consideration I dunno what's Inkscape, SAI or all that, and as a consequence I have no idea how they work.
Holy crap, I'm gonna give that blog a extensive read.
Also try googling - vector anime tutorials or vector manga tutorials

Plenty to choose from.

Will do!

... later, because I have stuff to do now :(
In Inkscape case, just try "Draw Bezier curves and straight lines" and "Edit paths by nodes (and it's bar on top)" from left side toolbar. push key Shift+Ctrl+F open "Fill and Stroke" panel on right side and try it. this is enough that to draw a good work. ;)
hiro: I'm gonna give it a try tomorrow, because I have some free time. I mainly want to learn how to trace lines, because coloring seems like a more complicated task for me.

The day I can successfully trace pictures like these, that day I'll be happy. lololol

Guess I'll have to learn this so I don't have to request anything u_u
The second screencap you posted is a good picture to start with. The first one is more detailed and doesn't have as clear of lines. Definitely start with something that isn't too complicated or you'll get frustrated quickly.

Personally, I use Photoshop+Pen Tool, but I'm not really good at vectoring.
Yeah, I thought the same thing.

And best part is, most of the pics of that char are like that xD I guess I'm gonna use Euridice as my test subject for vectoring :3

AGH, problem with SS is that most characters are too damned detailed. Shingo Araki is detail-obsessive.
so i'm one of the little few that just go with PS and pen tool?
tons of hours, stressful work...
i'm waiting for my tablet and see if it's better to vector with it.

una vez que mi tablet, kyoushiro, haré el vector de kagami que me pediste... si alguien no lo hace antes.
llega aproximadamente en 2 semanas.
lol Okay I'll wait :3

¿Qué tableta compraste? ¿Dónde? :O

If you're planning on using your tablet with the pen tool on Photoshop, there's no difference at all. Since you're just readjusting anchor points, you can get faster results with a regular mouse. Tablets work wonderfully on Sai, though.

well i was thinking something like directly drawing the lines instead of using pen tool. i've never seen/used a tablet so i just imagine things. i have no idea.

Tienes que probar una wacom! Yo tenia otra marca antes, y fui a una convención de manga y tenian wacoms para probar, y no se podian ni comparar. Compre una alli mismo xD

Photoshop is not a vectoring program. Also I kinda hate inkscape never managed to use it properly, didn't try that one with a tablet though... I prefer illustrator way.

When you get your tablet, try out Sai. It works exactly like that.

+1 :D
You should try the free version of Opencanvas too. The default brush setting is an amazing blend thru water color like brush. It's amazing ^^

A customized Gimp also has blending brush tool ;)

I'm using this version of Gimp.

but for blending brush tools, nothing can beat SAI.

es justo lo que evitaba que me digan. no quería que me desanimen antes de tiempo -_- .
se sabe que una Wacom es lo máximo, pero no alcanzó el billete. de $121 a $530 hay bastante diferencia.

i use Photoshop to vector and it works fine... unless i'm doing it the wrong way.

i'll definitelly try out Sai.
Asterix, ya pásame mi vector ;__;

youre doing it wrong, the only thing photoshop can vector are simple lines/strokes. As soon as you fill some color you´ll have a bitmap graphic which will look like shit when enlarged/shrinkd/reenlarged
Vectors are very limiting for coloring. Just work in 300 DPI or so, so it doesn't need to be upscaled.
