AI content ad banners?
"Hentai AI built for sexting"
Some random ass 'chatting' with clearly ai-generated girls

I'm just curious if this bs is intended. Especially since not only it appears even in posts, but the side banner partially blocks some posts on mobile, lol. (and goes onto picture if I'm looking at the post)
are you referring to ads suddenly appearing in the site?... because im experiencing some kind of ad being loaded... i dont have an ad blocker though... but it fails to load...
I don't have an adblocker, there's a side banner on the left and a horizontal banner under the navigation pane. They seem to be able to display full frontal nudity even when the posts themselves are restricted to non-explicit.

I don't have a stance on yande.re showing ads. I'm just noticing it's different from gelbooru in the regard.

Yep
Glad, I'm using Brave wholetime....
Vivaldi and thanks to uBlock Origin, there are no ads loading, but there still are flashing placeholders before they disappear (like on Konachan). Quite annoying. I did not know that it was new on Yande.re to have ads (not on the forum area, though)… Is it to pay for the new server where the site is announced to be migrated (see last Checkmate’s post on https://yande.re/forum/show/31550?page=5 )?
Should I sugar coat this?

Yande.re server is so old and creaky that it's no longer holding together no matter how much band-aids I slap on. The new server was also out of my budget range.

There's also bandwidth issues - It's no secret that we have been hitting the bandwidth cap since 2020. This website was running on sweats, bloods and tears for so long that it's no longer feasible in 2023 - 2024 thanks to inflation, energy cost, and Powell's rates.

You can use adblocks and what not but just keep that in mind that we need cold hard cash to keep the server on, not thoughts and prayers. I appreciate it if you don't discuss your awesome and effective ad blocking strategy unless you want yande.re to die off.

--- Anyhow ---
The new server is deployed, so upgrades are under way. 2X more bandwidth, and better spindle HDD with lots of SSD caching is ready. They are expensive, and I'll see how it goes.
Why don't you consider adopting Danbooru's method of letting users pay to upgrade their accounts? You should know that a large portion of the users who patronize this place don't come here to look at magazines and scan pictures.
In order for that to work, it is necessary to completely upgrade the source code of this website. This would require a significant upfront investment, and the return on investment may even be questionable.

Oh and what's the perks for upgraded user? Ability to un-blacklist loli and gore? To be able to comments? Or be able to view 10000 images a day? That means taking away features from regular user, I'm not turning this into another minitokyo.

I would be delighted if we could at least make the site responsive, implement a captcha, and have some spam management features. However, even that seems to be impossible, let alone implementing an entire account upgrade and management system.

Sigh.
From one side, I can see where this is going from.
From other, randomly starting to see ad banners with random porn crap just doesn't feel right. Especially with one of them (the side one) literally partially blocking some of the posts/overlapping with the post, if I'm opening the separate one.

And it's not like I can even use ad-block, since I'm only visiting from a phone and already need vpn-browser.

Definitely not gonna throw away my 8.5 yo account cos of this, but ig it's time to limit my use of this site to some degree.

Sorry for bitching, lol.

Well, less usage = less bandwidth, less cpu = less money to maintain this site. I have no motivation other than pure love to maintain yande.re. Sadly, servers don't run on love, and I don't have a lot of budget to work with.

But let me be clear that I'm not chasing people away, I'm not taking away any features at all.

At least consider doing something to left banner, if possible. Maybe just mobile browser problem, I dunno, but it's really annoying.

I'll investigate

Edit: check if it is still overlapping?

It’s not overlapping for me
Ads now looks fine when accessing using phone.
越來越多品質參差不齊的圖被傳上來然後再被扒圖仔全網扒圖浪費無意義的流量只是惡性循環
In all honesty I wasn't sure how the site paid for itself before the ads. Good on checkmate for keeping this place going for so long. Salute o7
well... as long as it's intentional... it's just back to classic moe.imouto with adbanners... though i wish we can do something about those "live" porn site ads... at least the ads back then are close to site content...
How about paying = no ads.
The ads made the site always nsfw.

I thought about that. And whenever I surf the site as guest, I never see anything even remotely close to SFW unless you bookmarked a few very SFW images. Otherwise, you will see exposed nipples and pantsu and skin-swimsuits on almost every pages.

Please convince me otherwise. There is a filter but I haven't used it.

From my wallet, equivalent to the price of a high-end graphic card every month. Over the years, this has accumulated into mountains of it, perhaps enough to purchase two cars. However, starting in 2023 and 2024, the cost is expected to be significantly higher.

In an ideal world, I would love to transform it that way. However, in reality, it depends on the advertiser and what they want to promote. It seems that real porn generates better revenue even on anime sites, but I am uncertain.

I wish I have a freedom to describe how critical it is for yande.re to upgrade servers, (multiple-servers, not one). It's at a breaking point.

Yeah I know the site isn't precisely rated E for Everyone, but I browse with q and e blacklisted. Now even if I filter by `s` keyword I get to see those naughty ladies doing their stuff. Animated even.

I don't mean to complain, I (kind of) understand the money part. It's not like I help to keep the site running anyway. Thanks for that btw.

Please don't feel offended. I'm not dismissing complaints; I'm genuinely seeking to understand if there's a valid rational.

In fact, I implemented an ad filter feature for this exact purpose a while back. If there truly is a valid reason, I'd be willing to utilize it.
I think almost everyone that uses internet also uses an addblocker so I doubt that it will help a lot

however, if people aren't willing to see adds online whatever the website I think there are many that would help this one if they could, even a little, especially the ones that are talking on this forum. I heard there are services that let you watch adds to remunerate creators directly on a dedicated page and you can watch how many as you want.

By doing that, I think people whith addblockers that want to help this site would be more likely to do it. Because if they usually don't desactivate it casually because internet without adds is just better, they will manually do it on this specific website, by their on will and consent. So if you find such an alternative it could be efficient I think (and I'm ready to watch plenty of adds to help you)
You might be able to get a Patreon going for those who want to help with expenses or as an ad-free option. Yandere is the only image site that allows rewards to be posted since Danbooru has banned it and Konachan is wallpaper format only. It would be a big loss if you couldn't keep it going.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, global energy costs have risen, leading many websites to close due to cost pressures. I am grateful to the site owner for accompanying us through 16 years.

Surveying various major image Boorus on the internet, I always believe that this place is the best, with both quality and standards surpassing other sharing platforms.

Although I know that this place initially focused on scanning magazine images, with the development of the internet, many books and magazines have become electronic. Here, it has also transformed into a gathering place for high-quality images.

In addition to publicly released images on platforms like Pixiv and Twitter, on average, I spend about the equivalent of the cost of an RTX 4060 graphics card every month. I subscribe and upload reward images from various platforms to enrich this website.

Obviously, everyone comes here primarily to view NSFW images because only NSFW-type images have the highest scores. However, I think the quality of SFW images here is also quite good.

So, whether there are ads or not seems to have little impact on those who contribute enthusiastically to sharing. I just don't understand why, after the introduction of ads, many people who usually keep quiet have started to surface.

I agree with Genex's perspective. Demanding a good browsing experience without ads interference, using Patreon for paid support is the ideal solution. Anime-pictures.net also provides this option for those willing to support the website's operation through sponsorship.
Hello everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to address some concerns and offer some transparency. My passion for eroge, especially the vanilla genre, has driven me to be deeply invested in our community. I assure you, I'm far from being indifferent to the conversations and sentiments expressed here over the years.

Just to clarify, merely displaying ads doesn't generate revenue; ads need to lead to conversions, meaning people must be interested enough in the advertised service to follow through and make a purchase.

Some of you have suggested setting up a Patreon or similar platforms as a way to financially support the site without ads. While the idea is admirable, it's a risky move: Yande.re hosts a variety of content, some of which is quite controversial. It would only take one report from a disgruntled user to get us banned from such platforms. Plus, we have to consider whether we're willing to remove all extreme and loli content from the site to comply with those platforms' policies—a significant change that might not align with what our community wants.

The focus on ads might seem like the central issue, but in actuality, the primary concern is the aging technology underpinning the site. As technology evolves, our codebase risks becoming obsolete, which poses significant security and maintenance challenges. To stay current, we'd need to overhaul our code and update dependencies.

One of the immediate needs is to improve account creation and management. For those who may not know, yande.re is hosted by Anime-Sharing, which recently launched its second version, featuring OAUTH sign-in. Integrating yande.re with Anime-Sharing's OAUTH could streamline our account system, but this is a goal we can only aim for in the future.

What I'm gathering from the community is a desire for SFW ads to match the SFW artwork on the site. Do I have that right?
i'm ok with anything as long as it's for the best of the site's survival...

Only insofar as logic of the process echoes. Moonian would tell a user off about how the avatar should be not NSFW per yande.re policy. Everyone could read it, only then to look upwards on a post page to see a sped-up hardcore sex montage, then downwards for some lotion play and an apparent exhibitionist masturbating.

Whichever is less hassle and long-term damage. Keep going and just end the ads after reaching all of the goals (past yande.re did have ads come and go, I'm not suggesting anything further than that), or amending the ads, or amending the policies.
I would prefer SFW ads. I feel like most people aren't going to click a porn ad in general out of fear of viruses, especially if they can already get erotic content here. Personally I'm far more likely to click an ad for a real product from a real company. Thanks for keeping the site alive, Checkmate. I appreciate your communication with the community.

The ads and policies will remain in place, with the potential for changes in the ads over time.
What specific long-term consequences are you concerned about?

I'll look into placing SFW ads in the appropriate area. But I can share with you people actually click on a porn ads more than they would click on a SFW ad.
