Yes, PNG files download failed, about 10:00 AM UTC. It is very annoyed.
What was the problem btw?
There's a lot going on recently it seems. For the past one or two months it's like 98% of what I try to save here immediately fails, but it's browser-specific for some reason. Firefox immediately fails - Edge doesn't, and I can't vouch for any others.
Then when it does come to saving images, I have to hope it doesn't instead try to save the webpage itself because you can't just save it as an image format because then you get a 30Kb download of something that can't be read.

Atleast give me some post url that is giving you such problem. I'll try to see if I can reproduce it.
This is not how you report problems.

The site has been very unresponsive for me for about a week now. Not specific to any post, just no response from the server. Eventually about 1 try in 10 will succeed and when it does the page loads instantly. I figured maybe it was a "me" thing since others were not complaining, but I am only having problems with this specific site and nothing else. Server answers pings just fine, so maybe a caching issue or it's refusing certain connections?
I've also been having these weird issues that other users are describing, but I changed my dns (was quad9) and suddenly I haven't had those issues anymore? Could be a fluke mind you.
Clearing browser cache didn't help, but trying a different browser did. That got me thinking I should try logging out and logging back in on my usual browser and that seems to have done the trick, now performance is fine in both browsers. Seems odd to me that would be the cause, we'll see what happens on future visits to the site.
Man I thought I was going crazy when no one was reporting this. Yes it seems that the issue is with Firefox for me. The website struggles to load any of the pages. When I do finally get a page to load and try to download the image it fails. Clearing cache made it even worse, now I can't even get to the logout page to log out...
Switching to Edge works fine so looks like I'll be using that for now.

The site has trouble loading after Firefox updated to version 130. Other browsers work fine.
Yeah, it's back to being broken for me today. It does seem to be Firefox specific, and is related to caching somehow. The index will load quickly, then the next link clicked will sit and do nothing until the connection times out. If you force a reload (perform a ctrl + F5) so that you're loading from the server and not from local cache, the next link clicked will load quickly again and then that's it it's right back to being broken.
Consider to launch Firefox in troubleshoot mode to check if any extensions require updates in version 130.
Additionally, try disabling HTTP/3.
You can do this by navigating to: about:config and setting network.http.http3.enabled from true to false.
I have a hunch Firefox may have fucked up this time.
So far you guys are having problems with Firefox, and nobody tell me what's wrong with "large PNG download".
We are off to a great start /s

Apologies for derailing the original intend of the thread. I/we had a concern about site performance and this is the only recent/active thread on the topic and thus the most likely to get seen.Checkmate said:

The issue with Firefox appears to be linked to version 130 itself rather than our servers.
Speaking of server health, to help alleviate the high I/O load, I'm deploying 2TB of NVMe storage to better cache data from our spinning disk arrays in the upcoming upgrade.
Although we're experiencing spikes in random I/O, they remain within acceptable limits for now. However, at the current rate, it will become a headache.

No performance problem currently with Vivaldi (built on Chromium), here.
On Firefox, it takes a very long time to load the CSS stylesheet, but disabling “network.http.http3.enable” in “about:config” seems to fix it. Thanks for the tip!

At this point images won't load on any browser (Firefox, Safari or Chrome). Using a VPN, and doing a router reset on my end doesn't help. Other image boards load thumbnails and images in a flash. I did see a PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR message after trying to load an image from yandere. Other parts of this board such as comments or messages function normally. I have a feeling I might have to wait for it to be sorted out.
Edit: Same for my 5G Samsung Galaxy. Tags only, images no.

Not for me: no pic is showing. “ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED” on “files.yande.re”.
One of the HDD is dead, it has been acting up for the past 2 hours and I'm replacing it.
The problem was discovered during a general maintenance today, as I was actively working on it.
Note that whatever happened today had nothing to do previous problem about Firefox v130. Certainly we have too many random thread reporting random problem.

This should be completed now.
We have additional maintenance planned for the upcoming weeks.
The schedule includes restructure the storage layout to incorporate a 2TB NVMe cache, which will significantly enhance performance by drastically reducing I/O bottlenecks for large images. Also, to reorganize the system logs and decommission all ext4 and xfs file systems.

Fixed, indeed! Thank you, and good luck with the maintenance operations!Checkmate said:

(RIP, little HDD… You have served well! o7)
Out of curiosity - can you elaborate? Going all ZFS or something?Checkmate said:

This site still does not work at all for me on Firefox.
This site worked 2 months ago but was so slow and i could not download PNG or large images and only got errors.
I've tried to clear cashe & cookies, reinstall Firefox, disable all extensions, disabling HTTP/3 in about:config but nothing works.
Even with the newest Firefox installed today the site only loads the first page then nothing else.
At least this site works with Edge but i'm not a fan of Edge.

Traditionally, ZFS has been primarily supported on FreeBSD, and most standard Linux servers have not used ZFS. Initially, I conducted a pilot test of ZFS (kernel module ZFS) on a separate drive, and it proved to be very stable for production use.vonMooky said:

Currently, roughly 75% of our entire Linux cluster uses root on ZFS. By the end of this year, I aim to have 100% of our Linux servers using root on ZFS.
There haven't been any changes to our FreeBSD cluster, as it has always natively supported ZFS. Concerns about the kernel module for ZFS on Linux have been addressed by using a ZFS native kernel.
ZFS offers unparalleled performance across all workloads, especially with the release of OpenZFS 2.2.0.
There have been no changes in our web server (the nginx stack) since July. It seems likely that the issue you're (we are all) experiencing is due to a Firefox update. Have you tried rolling back to an older version of Firefox to see if that resolves the issue?Hatoruz said:

It's difficult to determine the exact cause of the issue with Firefox, but I noticed that disabling HTTP/3 resolved the slow loading problem on my own Firefox. Nginx hasn't logged any issues related to HTTP/3 and Firefox, so it's unclear what the specific problem might be.
Unfortunately, I don't have the resources to troubleshoot this further.
I can disable http3 completely, but that is counterproductive here.
Hello,
i have the same problem since a view weeks.
Both Firefox on my Desktop and my Smartphone are affected.
When useing Chrome or Edge everything is fine.
But the problem only occures with vodaphone as service Provider (TV cable).
Via mobile Data (O2 / Telefonica) Firefox is working properly.
Anybody has an idea?
I dont like useing other browsers, due lack of privacy settings.
Sincerely AntiDu

If you set 'network.http.http3.enable' to 'false' in 'about:config' the site loads and runs smooth as butter again. Firefox has had HTTP3 implementation since 2020 (enabled by default since 2021) so I'm not sure why it's acting up now. Maybe something was forced or something deprecated in Firefox.
EDIT; I just noticed another reply further up also mentioning this. That's what I get for skimming. Sorry for adding nothing to the conversation. lol

Disabling http3 is really not a viable solution IMO. In exchange for yandere working again you are reducing performance and security across many other websites you visit.
Can confirm this only happens on Firefox 130 and later, including the latest 132.0b8. Clean installation, no extensions or plugins. Disabling HTTP3 doesn't help. Only happens with Firefox 130+ and this website, no issues with any other sites.
Rolling back to 129 resolves the issue, but it's affected by a severe CVE, so not an option anymore.

May be you all should start telling Firefox to fix their shit?
I mean, totally fair that you don't want to hear about it anymore since you feel the problem isn't on your end. But would YOU submit a compatibility/issue report to Mozilla for yande.re? Hence the dilemma.
