I cleaned it. I don't know if the original is still preferred when it's a png with artifacts version.

Please refrain from "cleaning" digital images.

While minor in this case, there are always details get lost when filtering an image. Unless the original is pretty bad (which isn't the case here), there is no need to run any additional processing on it.

Also, i'm pretty sure the uploader on e-hentai already "cleaned" it once..

Can't be 100% sure without comparing, but otherwise I see no reason why he re-saved them as PNGs (maybe he just don't know how to extract images properly?).

Also, Kindle typically would have even worse artifacts, but it depends on the publishers. Some are better.

isn't it just the image is double page and there's no other way to combine them?

The gallery on e-hentai is full-png.

(Also after having a closer look, it does seem to have plenty of JPEG artifacts [but for some reason also kinda.. blurry?]).
