While editing the Castlevania tags, I found... this.

This is what you must NOT do to well-designed characters. The Death Note guy really screwed most of the chars in the artwork of that Wii Castlevania game.

And IMO Maria and Simon (also uploaded) were the least affected. Seeing Dracula and Eric Lecarde... :/

Obata nearly "re-created" all of the characters.
I think it's better to be created as a new series instead, the designs are not really bad.

Especially this Maria.
I think I could nominate it as the cutest design ever existed.
She (and Aeon) is what made me bought the game back then.

It makes them look generic as opposed to the artsy gothic look the series is heavily known for. I don't know what was going on with IGA's mind when he tried to hire a mangaka from a mediocre series to do the designs but I'm glad they finally dropped it and did it took 3 times to do it.

castlevania has suffered too much since this game, and not to mention lord of shadows...
