Thank you Twin.

I don't suppose a Moderator could update Aurelia's first post here at:
https://yande.re/forum/show/5018

Update the IRC with the one Twin provided:
irc://irc.rizon.net/moe-imouto

I first used that old one, irc://irc.rizon.net/moe-chat, and didn't get any response. I then thought maybe the IRC got updated or I did something wrong.

I updated all of the posts in that thread. o_O
rename all the weeaboo sounding tags such as pantsu and seifuku.
Back then there was no such weeaboo stigma. Now, while it's a valid suggestion, the site's tradition weighs more.

If you're against weaboo/otaku culture, this website is NOT for you. besides, having "pantsu" in the tags is a lot less weird sounding than if we used the two "panties" or "underwear". "Seifuku" is a word used to portray Japanese uniforms only I think, so I don't think we have to replace it at all.

Everyone is welcome, but in fact, the site's attitude along the years has been to avoid the weeaboos' tendency to form hugboxes and such.

I perfectly understand you, but there are still lots of them here that use japanese in their comments while speaking english and such, it's just unavoidable, so if someone can't handle that, what's the point in staying there?

There are actual Japan or China citizens commenting on posts, as I said, everyone is welcome. But let's stop this discussion, this is not the thread for it.

Okay then.
Concerning the rating of images as explicit/questionable/safe with questionable being the default.
Since uploaders often don't bother to rate their images they end up as being marked as questionable.

Couldn't we have a fourth option "unrated" and have that as the default?

This might have been discussed too much already. If I'm annoying - feel free to ignore.
Usually somebody will edit the rating soon after uploading even if it isn't the uploader themself. So while I don't think it would be bad to have unrated as an option I don't think it's necessary

I agree in it not being essential, it would however improve clarity - and I'm always "go" for tidying.
Adding an option doesn't strike me as difficult, too.
Perhaps it could be done like danbooru, no rating is selected initially and you cannot upload until you pick one.

But here, it's default set on questionable.
@Checkmate

Samples and Thumbnails in particular are loading extremely slow (~2-3 seconds to finish loading) since the server move today. Original images as well are only loading at a fraction of the speed they were before.

I'd suspect that this new server is being throttled by OVH, and/or there has been a major downgrade the server hardware. FWIW, the previous SSD + RAID-5 + massive RAM configuration admin2 built was the end result of 3 or 4 forced hardware upgrades over a few years, each done since yande.re traffic growth was resulting in 100% Disk I/O Utilization overload situations 24/7 with lower spec hardware.
Server move eh? I guess that's why samples and full size images are all broken for me. Thumbs are fine though, I didn't notice any slowdown there.

If you delete your browser cache, then keep clicking 'Next' quickly, you'll probably notice it after a few pages. Though I guess that would depend how the server behaved for you before. At least on my end, thumbnails always loaded instantly with limit=28 with the old yande.re & moe.imouto servers over the years, so seeing some of the thumbs finish loading a couple seconds out-of-sync from first page display is quite a noticeable difference in terms of responsiveness.

I guess that's why samples and full size images are all broken for me.
If they are not loading at all, maybe the DNS hasn't fully propagated or something. Currently the IP addresses of the sub-domains after the migration are as follows:

files.yande.re (fullsize images, samples, pool zips):
5.39.10.56 (OVH Gravelines)

assets.yande.re (thumbnails, scripts) & yande.re (everything else):
92.222.110.68 (OVH Roubaix)
Yeah, most likely DNS. If it doesn't work tomorrow then I might troubleshoot on my end.
I could actually reproduce fullsize images, samples, and pool zips not loading at all for a little while today. Things are loading now, but files.yande.re server seems half-dead. At the moment, speed extremely unstable with peaks and drops averaging around ~20-50KB/s or even disconnecting completely at times (compared to an easy 100Mbps off the old server). It really does feel like the past when those 100% Disk Utilization issues occurred.

I hope Checkmate gets it sorted out in the coming month.

_____

Edit (~1 month later): Checkmate has been tweaking the servers and performance seems to have improved greatly. It turns out that the new servers were actually more powerful than the old, though it seems like OVH international routing is a bit flaky at times.

At some point, with spoofed referer at target url, I receive 403 error from files.yande.re, in the posts from image samples, or by clicking the "Download larger version". This is a bug or made specially for some reason?

(Sorry, Google Translate)
It's not a bug, it's a feature called Hotlink protection.
Yande.re seems really interesting, I like it a lot, but I must admit that I have difficulty to browse the various pages...
I mean, for example... to edit even my details.... my page says 'my favorite artist' and other informations... are all blank and I don't understand (like instead happen in every forum I was registered) how to add text there...
At first, also how to set up an avatar, it was not clear to me, I had to ask before understand that I have to browse the gallery of drawings and when I see something I like I select 'set as avatar' at the side of one picture..
Things like this.. I don't know, it's not intuitive expecially for foreign people.... ^^
But I love it very much! I wish just more 'flexibility' between menu' maybe...

It's more of a image hosting site, and social features are lacking (Not that I care as I would like to see comments nuked from orbit)
Any plan to upgrade to something like Danbooru 2.x? or at least API extensions for the tags category (e.g.
<tag-string-artist/>, <tag-string-character/>, <tag-string-copyright/>, <tag-string-general/>
)
I always wondered why there are no ads here... I don't think that's an actual improvement but I think that's a good way to help this website stay alive. If you ever consider this, just think about adding a turn -on/off button. Besides, if you just advertised visual novels, I don't think it would feel like much of a problem (to me, at least.)
Putting ads on such pretty site like this was never on my agenda. However, I'll explore the possibility for exemptions.

Nevertheless, this site isn't going anywhere soon and funding is not a problem for now.
Why picture load so long?

it depends on your network connection.
and i think it is quite fast.
