So I recently started collecting games and artbooks for the Hyperdimension Neptunia Playstation series. A huge part of the interest in this game (besides the parodies of the video game industry) is the all-female bishoujo (moe) cast. What I am wondering is, would the series have been as popular had it been just the video game industry parodies without the bishoujo element? I get that people are trying to eliminate the objectification of women, but personally I think that Moe only makes the characters that much more likable.

On Hyperdimesion Neptunia, I really want to like the series and I do like the characters designs and personalities for the most part, I also have an artbook of it. Still though, from what I've seen the writing seems to be pretty mediocre, and the references/humor related to the video game industry came across as very low-brow and easy as well. Not to mention the graphics (outside of the 2D sprites) come across as pretty dated.
I am not a fan of the turn-based battle system either but that's more of a personal thing.
Basically if it didn't have cute bishoujos/completely different artstyle I probably would have never picked it up to begin with but for now I have the first game on Steam at 75% off but tbh I've barely touched it.

Oh man this is really weird. Couldn't find key visual for Strike Witches third OVA in good resolution. Google image search only found 500x700 px. Want to hunt the image with minimum height 1000px.
