I've seen that symbol on anime before, in onsens I think (wtf is houkago tea time)

The image you're seeing in front of onsen in anime is ゆ.
And Houkago Tea Time (After School Tea Time) is the name of the band the K-ON! girls made.
The girls are on a plane to England, where the K-ON movie is to take place. (hence the plane and the shirt)

Definitely excited for the movie!

Actually the circle (pool?) with three rising steam fumes is a symbol for an onsen (google for "onsen symbol").
Yui added the line below and at the side to make it into a symbolic tea cup, thus creating HTT's logo.
(I believe it was in Season 1, Ep. 14 "Live House!")
